The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Dewasa ini orang para aransir angklung banyak mengaransir lagu dari aransemen yang ada di kaset atau di partitur lain. Ada kemungkinan bahwa orang yang mengaransemen dengan cara demikian dianggap menjiplak aransemen orang lain. Apakah sesungguhnya demikian ?

Untuk pertanyaan ini dapat dikemukakan beberapa argumen untuk mengantisipasinya.

Pertama, para pengaransir melakukan cara demikian karena panutan mereka yaitu Daeng Sutigna juga melakukan hal demikian, dan untuk aransemennya orang tetap menyebutnya sebagai aransemen Daeng Sutigna. Dapat kita lihat aransemen-aransemen angklung seperti Donau Wellen, Colonel Boogey March dan Bluen Donau ditulis dengan nama pengaransir Daeng Sutigna, maskipun aransemen dengan itu dengan semua ornamensinya tidaklah berbeda dangan aransemen aslinya (untuk alat musik lain).

Kedua, musik angklung sendiri baru berkembang. Apresiasi orang terhadap musik ini masih belum begitu besar. Bagaimanapun bagusnya aransemen dan permainan angklung yang dibawakan, kalau aransemennya berbeda dengan aransemen aslinya, maka penerimaan orang akan berbeda. Orang lebih menghargai jika aransemen yang dimainkan sama dengan aransemen asli, sehingga dengan demikian aransemen perlu psersisi seperti aslinya.

Ketiga, dan yang terpenting, adalah karena aransemen angklung sendiri bukanlah pekerjaan yang mudah. Sifat-sifat aransemen angklung ini yang menyebabkan tidak begitu saja aransemen asli dapat dipindahkan ke angklung. Perlu ada beberapa penyesuaian dalam peletakan ornamensi dan blok akor, dan beberapa perlakuan agar melodi utama dapat tetap menonjol. Mereka yang belum pernah berkecimpung di dalam angklung meskipun seorang aranger kawakan belum dapat mengarasmen angklung dengan baik. Dengan demikian, upaya menyesuaikan dan mengaramsemen agar sesuai dengan karakteristik angklung adalah upaya tersendiri, dan untuk ini perlu suatu keahlian yang  khusus.

Dengan demikian tidak dianggap plagiat. menuliskan namanya sebagai pengaransir bukan yang salah. Istilah yang mungkin moderat adalah pengaransir angklung, meskipun tidak perlu disebutkan secara utuh. Penghargaan juga diperlukan untuk keahlian pengaransir angklung yang khusus ini.
