<<< Welcome to Angklung Web Institute (AWI)! This website is a medium of information exchange about angklung knowledge and competence, especially diatonic angklung in orchestral composition. The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. One major problem is that there is no firm standard yet in constructing, tuning, forming, playing, and compositing angklung. Another problem is that until today, an angklung music community as a media of education and industrialization of the angklung music hasn’t been founded yet. Through this website we would like to ask you who have a great concern to the development of angklung to pass this piece of information to the world in order to support this developing music instrument. Through this website we would like to convey an angklung-ical activity to an angklung team or community and hopefully someday the industrialization of angklung can be realized. DIPLOMASI ANGKLUNG OLEH MURID-MURID SRIT (Indonesian Embassy, 18 Maret 2009)

Pada tanggal 17 Maret 2009, KBRI Tokyo bersama dengan Sekolah Republik Indonesia Tokyo (SRIT) melakukan kunjungan persahabatan ke sekolah dasar “Kagomachi”, Tokyo.

Dalam kunjungan tersebut ikut serta sejumlah 14 siswa SD SRIT. Kunjungan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan persahabatan sejak dini dikalangan pemuda kedua bangsa melalui perkenalan seni dan budaya. Dalam kunjungan tersebut telah disumbangkan kepada sekolah dasar “Kagomachi” dua set perangkat angklung dari KBRI Tokyo yang diserahkan oleh Kepala SRIT, Drs. H. Sumarwoto, Msc. kepada Kepala Sekolah “Kagomachi” Furukawa Kuniaki. Dalam acara penerimaan yang disambut secara meriah oleh seluruh murid sekolah dasar “Kagomachi”, ke 14 murid murid SRIT yang terdiri dari murid kelas 4 & 5 memainkan musik angklung “Twinkel-twinkel little star” yang dinyanyikan dalam bahasa Jepang.

Dalam kata sambutan Kepala Sekolah “Kagomachi” merasa sangat senang menerima Angklung dari Indonesia dan akan mengajarkan musik Angklung kepada anak-anak didiknya. Symbol SD “Kagomachi” sendiri adalah bambu karena “kago” dibuat dari bambu. Kepala Sekolah berharap bahwa pertemuan ini akan membina hubungan baik kedua negara.

Kepala SRIT menyampaikan terimakasih atas sambutan yang hangat dari seluruh murid-murid SD “Kagomachi”. Kegiatan ini merupakan “diplomasi angklung” yang dilakukan oleh murid-murid SRIT untuk memperkenalkan Indonesia kepada generasi muda di Jepang dan berharap bahwa hubungan pertukaran seni dan budaya ini akan lebih mempererat hubungan kedua bangsa.

Acara dilanjutkan dengan memperdengarkan alat musik pianika dan suling yang dimainkan oleh masing-masing murid kelas 2, 3, 4, 5, dan 6 SD “Kagomachi” dan diakhiri dengan nyanyian Jepang “Arigato” (terima kasih). Makan siang bersama dilakukan dimasing-masing kelas beserta dengan murid-murid SRIT.
