AWI: Angklung Web Institute center of knowledge and competence of angklung

<<< Welcome to Angklung Web Institute (AWI)! This website is a medium of information exchange about angklung knowledge and competence, especially diatonic angklung in orchestral composition. The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. One major problem is that there is no firm standard yet in constructing, tuning, forming, playing, and compositing angklung. Another problem is that until today, an angklung music community as a media of education and industrialization of the angklung music hasn’t been founded yet. Through this website we would like to ask you who have a great concern to the development of angklung to pass this piece of information to the world in order to support this developing music instrument. Through this website we would like to convey an angklung-ical activity to an angklung team or community and hopefully someday the industrialization of angklung can be realized. MMA (Masyarakat Musik Angklung) dan AWI (Angklung Web Institute) bekerja sama untuk mengatur sebuah diskusi panel dan konser angklung. Kami mengatakan acara ini spesial karena tujuan dari acara ini adalah untuk merayakan seratus tahun Pa Daeng yang bertajuk “A Trail of Invention in World’s Music History”. Acara tersebut digelar di Gedung Merdeka Bandung.

Rangkaian acara terdiri dari diskusi panel, pameran perjalanan hidup Daeng Soetigna, peluncuran buku biografi Daeng Soetigna dan konser angklung yang dimulai pukul 8 pagi sampai 10 malam yang terdiri dari dua sesi, pertama adalah diskusi panel, dan peluncuran buku biografi Daeng Soetigna pada pagi hari dan sesi kedua adalah konser angklung pada malam harinya. Beberapa tim angklung pun ikut unjuk gigi pada konser ini, diantaranya dari Keluarga Besar Bumi Siliwangi (Kabumi) dari Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Gentra Seba dari STBA Yapari, SD Cikal dan Temen Awi Angklung Orchestra (TAAO).

Ratusan undangan terjual habis sejam sebelum pertunjukan dimulai, sekitar 600 penontong memadati tempat bersejarah tersebut. Salah satu penonton adalah Rektor Universitas Padjadjaran yaitu Prof. Dr. Ir Ganjar Kurnia, DEA yang sangat perhatian dengan perkembangan kebudayaan sunda. Perayaan tersebut didukung oleh MMA, AWI, Serambi Pirous dan Harian Umum Pikiran Rakyat.
