ImageBAGI yang pernah menyaksikan konser musik Yanni di Acropolis, Yunani, tentu tahu betapa megah, agung, dan fenomenalnya "Santorini". Ya, nomor klasik itu memang menjadi salah satu karya terbaik komposer jenius tersebut. Tetapi, apa jadinya "Santorini" dibawakan dengan instrumen tradisional Sunda bernama angklung?

Mungkin, sebagian orang tak percaya jika angklung mampu memainkan "Santorini" yang terkesan modern dan Barat. Tetapi, di tangan anak-anak anggota Temen AWI Angklung Orchestra, nomor "Santorini" bisa ditampilkan begitu apik dan megah, tentu dengan bunyi yang beda. Dengan sedikit tambahan alat musik modern seperti simbal, drum, dan kontrabass, "Santorini" pun mampu dilebur dalam harmonisasi alunan khas bambu dengan nada diatonis-kromatis.

"Santorini" hanyalah salah satu nomor yang akan ditampilkan pada pergelaran musik angklung di Gedung Merdeka Bandung, Sabtu (20/12) malam ini mulai pukul 19.00 WIB. Pergelaran itu merupakan bagian dari acara "Peringatan 100 Tahun Bapak Angklung Daeng Soetigna: A Trail of Invention in World’s Music History".
 
Nomor-nomor lain yang akan ditampilkan di antaranya "Li Biamo Ne Lieti Calici from La Traviatta" karya Giuseppe Verdi, "La Vie en Rose" (NN), "Melody of Life" (Uematsu Nobuo), "Volare" (Gypsi King), "Blue Danube Waltz" (Johan Strauss), "Air for G String" (Johan Sebastian Bach), "Jali-jali", "Bengawan Solo" (Gesang), "Es Lilin" (Bi Mursih), "Kopi Dangdut", dan "Rinduku Padamu" (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono).

"Ini memberi bukti bahwa angklung bisa memainkan lagu apa saja, baik yang tradisional maupun modern. Angklung zaman sekarang berbeda dengan zaman dulu. Dan saya yakin angklung punya potensi dibuat konser," kata Concert Master angklung, Obby A.R. Wiramihardja di sela geladi resik "Peringatan 100 Tahun Bapak Angklung Daeng Soetigna" di Gedung Merdeka Bandung, Jumat (19/12).

Menurut Obby --salah seorang dari tiga murid Daeng Soetigna yang masih hidup bersama Suhandiman dan Edi Permadi-- angklung modern diatonis-kromatis bisa berkolaborasi dengan alat musik apa saja, baik tradisional maupun modern. Bahkan, bisa dikolaborasikan dengan alat-alat musik tradisional dari negara lain seperti dengan sachuhaci (suling Jepang) atau koto (kecapi Jepang).

"Inilah yang menurut saya tidak boleh dilupakan orang, berkat jasa Pak Daeng, musik angklung bisa diterima oleh masyarakat dunia. Angklung bisa sejajar dengan alat-alat musik dunia," kata Obby dengan nada menyesal.

Ketua Masyarakat Musik Angklung (MMA) ini juga menyatakan bahwa angklung mestinya menjadi aset bangsa dan sumber kebanggaan nasional. Masyarakat, khususnya orang Jawa Barat, patut memiliki angklung. Apalagi, dengan konsep 5 M (murah, mudah, massal, mendidik, dan menyenangkan) yang dikembangkan Pak Daeng, menjadikan angklung diterima oleh berbagai kalangan usia, tingkat pendidikan, dan strata sosial.

"Sayangnya, hingga saat ini angklung seperti jalan di tempat. Setiap ada konser atau pergelaran angklung, memang respons dari masyarakat sangat bagus, tetapi itu datang hanya dari mereka yang sudah kenal angklung. Makanya, saya hanya berpesan, khususnya kepada generasi muda, cobalah kenali angklung dan setelah kenal, mulailah mencintainya," kata Obby.

Ketua Panitia Peringatan 100 Tahun Pak Daeng, Roswita Amelinda, mengakui betapa sulitnya panitia mendapatkan sponsor untuk mendukung acara. "Saya jadi sedih, ketika kami ajukan proposal, banyak yang tidak tahu dan sering mengajukan pertanyaan ’siapa Pak Daeng’. Bahkan, konyolnya, pertanyaan itu pun diajukan oleh host salah satu stasiun televisi nasional," kata Roswita.

Mengenai klaim Malaysia yang menyebut angklung dengan istilah bamboo Malay, Obby berpendapat bahwa klaim tersebut sebagai tindakan konyol, tanpa bukti, dan Malaysia seharusnya malu. "Tetapi, kita sendiri juga harus mempunyai rasa malu karena tidak ada perhatian untuk menjaga dan melestarikannya. Ungkapan kekesalan atau nada protes bukanlah merupakan bentuk dari perhatian, tetapi itu lebih kepada rasa ketakutan saja," ujar Obby.

Memang, Alm. Daeng Soetigna pernah menerima penghargaan Satyalancana Kebudayaan dari Presiden Soeharto (1968) dan Anugerah Bintang Budaya Parana Dharma dari Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (2007). Namun, menurut Obby, hal tersebut merupakan bentuk penghargaan bagi seorang maestro. "Sementara bagi mahakaryanya?," ujar Obby dengan nada tanya.

Dikatakan Obby, hingga saat ini pemerintah belum memberikan kontribusi terhadap alat maupun kesenian angklung. "Selama 50 tahun saya bergelut di dunia angklung, saya kecewa kepada pemerintah. Sampai saat ini belum ada perlindungan terhadap angklung dari pemerintah," tutur Obby.

Hal senada diungkapkan Yayan Udjo (putra Alm. Udjo Ngalagena). Menurut dia, karena unsur 5M, angklung semakin diterima sebagai duta musik Indonesia di luar negeri. Musik angklung sering dipertunjukkan dalam acara pertukaran budaya Indonesia di luar negeri, dan kini bermunculan grup-grup angklung di berbagai negara. Angklung telah menjadi identitas bangsa dan duta musik Indonesia dalam menjalin persahabatan dengan bangsa lain. Maka, tidak salah jika angklung disebut alat musik persahabatan.

"Akan tetapi, sejauh mana kita menghargai karya Pa Daeng? Akankah kita akan turut mengakui pemerintah Malaysia yang mengklaim angklung miliknya, karena besarnya penghargaan yang diberikan?" ujar Yayan.

Daeng Soetigna yang lahir di Garut 13 Mei 1908 selama ini dikenal sebagai Bapak Angklung Indonesia. Perhatiannya pada angklung bermula tahun 1938, ketika ia menjadi guru dan pembina kepanduan (sekarang Pramuka) di Kuningan.

Saat itu ia melakukan eksperimen untuk membuat satu set angklung yang sanggup memainkan nada-nada diatonis-kromatis sehingga dapat memainkan setiap jenis lagu modern yang disukai anak-anak didiknya, sekaligus menciptakan semangat kebersamaan dan disiplin. (Muhtar Ibnu Thalab/Retno HY/"PR")***
