The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. One major problem is that there is no firm standard yet in constructing, tuning, forming, playing, and compositing angklung. Another problem is that until today, an angklung music community as a media of education and industrialization of the angklung music hasn’t been founded yet. Through this website we would like to ask you who have a great concern to the development of angklung to pass this piece of information to the world in order to support this developing music instrument. Through this website we would like to convey an angklung-ical activity to an angklung team or community and hopefully someday the industrialization of angklung can be realized. BANDUNG – Menteri Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata (Menbudpar) Jero Wacik mengatakan, dirinya bangga dengan langkah mahasiswa Universitas Padjajaran (Unpad) yang memecahkan rekor Museum Rekor Indonesia (Muri) yaitu 10 ribu bermain alat musik angklung.

“Saya senang bisa datang ke aacara ini. Pasalnya, ada sebuah negara yang mengaku-ngaku bahwa angklung berasal dari negara mereka (Malaysia),” kata Menbudpar usai memainkan angklung bersama peserta lainnya di halaman Unpad di Jalan Dipatiukur Nomor 35, Bandung, Jabar, Senin (27/8/2007).

Jero melanjutkan, dengan bukti kuat dan data yang dimiliki, angklung akhirnya dipercaya berasal dari Indonesia. Hal itu sekaligus memupuskan rencana negara lain yang ingin mengklaim bila angklung menjadi peninggalan budayanya.

“Keunikan dan kekhasan angklung telah menjadikan aset budaya bangsa yang sangat berharga. Angklung juga menjadi satu warisan budaya kebangaan Indonesia,” tegasnya.

Untuk itu, ini menjadi perhatian khusus bagi Menbudpar untuk mendaftarkan angklung sebagai warisan budaya dunia yang diakui Unesco (badan dunia yang membidangi pariwisata). Hal itu pernah dilakukan terhadap wayang golek. (fmh)
